Coupons, Inc. Digital Coupons Jump 170% in 2009

The growth of digital coupon campaigns continues to accelerate. The combination of technologies, economic conditions, and consumer awareness played a significant role in the rapid rise of their use as a promotional tool in 2009. This recent announcement from Coupons, Inc. highlights some interesting data.

  • Coupons, Inc. web distributed and mobile apps (including GroceryIQ) offered savings of $858 million in 2009 (up 170%)
  • Previously, 2008 growth over 2007 was 133%
  • Coupons/rewards was the fifth fastest growing Internet search category in 2009
  • Google searches for related "printable coupons" categories increased 180%+
  • Yahoo "coupons" search ranked first among economy-related searches
